Chandigarh, May 1 -- A Mansa court on Friday granted temporary relief to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann by allowing his exemption from personal appearance in a defamation case filed by former MLA Nazar Singh Manshahia.

The Chief Minister's legal counsel moved an application seeking exemption from the scheduled hearing, citing his mandatory presence at the ongoing special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Accepting the plea, the court adjourned the matter and fixed May 20, 2026, as the next date for the hearing.
