Chandigarh, Aug. 19 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday accused the BJP of using central agencies to put pressure on political opponents, saying the arrest of AAP leader Satyendar Jain should be viewed against the backdrop of the coming electoral contest in Punjab.
Mann said Jain's role as AAP's Punjab co-in-charge made the development particularly significant for the state. He alleged that the BJP was trying to weaken the party by targeting senior leaders before elections.
Jain, arrested by the Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch in connection with alleged irregularities in Delhi Jal Board tenders, has himself questioned the timing of the action and linked it to the Punjab election. The allegations and the political...
