Imphal, July 22 -- The Manipur unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, today staged a sit-in protest in Imphal, accusing the Congress and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of attempting to politicise the ongoing student agitation and create unrest in the state.
BJP leaders and workers later staged a protest and shouted slogans in front of the Congress Office.
Some Congress workers shouted slogans against the BJP.
Manipur Police personnel formed a human barricade and stopped the workers of the two political parties from attacking each other.
In the sit-in protest held in front of the BJP office various festoons and placards were displayed.
