Imphal, Aug. 12 -- Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday met and congratulated weightlifter Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam for winning the bronze medal in the women's 58 kg weightlifting event at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister lauded Bindyarani Devi for bringing laurels to Manipur and the country through her performance at the international sporting event.
He appreciated her dedication, discipline and determination, and said her achievement would inspire young sportspersons in the State to pursue excellence in sports.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged the significant contribution of sportspersons from Manipur to India's achievements in international sporting events.
