Imphal, April 20 -- Manipur Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh today unveiled a memorial stone at Khurai Chingambam Leikai in Imphal East in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Japanese aerial bombing of April 20, 1943, during World War II.

The event marked the 83rd commemoration of the incident known as the Khurai Chingangbam Mandop Aerial Bombing.

Paying tribute to the victims, the Chief Minister recalled that the attack claimed more than 100 innocent civilian lives and left a deep and lasting impact on Manipuri society.

He led those present in offering prayers to the departed souls and described the event as one of the most tragic chapters in the region's history.
