Imphal, Sept. 2 -- The Manipur Assembly on Wednesday resolved to urge the union Government to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Manipur before conducting the Census in the interest of the state in particular and the nation in general.

Chief Minister, Y. Khemchand Singh moved the resolution after a long and heated discussion between the ruling and the opposition benches. Khemchand reiterated that the Assembly had earlier passed similar resolutions, the first on August 5, 2022 and the second on March 1, 2024.
