Ukhrul (Manipur), April 19 -- Ukhrul district remained tense today after two persons, including a retired Army personnel, were killed in an alleged ambush by suspected Kuki militants along the Imphal-Ukhrul road in Ukhrul district yesterday.
The district had been tense following clashes between two communities. Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand had visited the district on April 17 and met both the communities and appealed for peace. National Highway 202, a key route connecting Imphal and Ukhrul, could not be used by the Naga communities as there are some villages alongside the highway controlled by another community.
