Imphal, Nov. 4 -- The Manipur government has ordered the constitution of District Level Peace Committees in every district of the State, to be chaired by the respective District Magistrates.
The order was issued by the Home Department, citing the prevailing law and order situation and the need to strengthen peace-building through sustained dialogue, community engagement and confidence-building measures according to Dr Mayengbam Veto Singh, Joint Secretary (Home).
Besides the District Magistrate, each committee will include the Superintendent of Police, the concerned Sub-Divisional Officers and Sub-Deputy Collectors, and district-level officers of relevant departments. Non-official members will include representatives of different communit...
