Shillong, June 11 -- A 55-year-old Bangladeshi national, who spent the night in no-man's land along the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya, returned to his native land on Thursday after the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) acknowledged his citizenship.
Sati Rajbanshi - a native of Chalna village under the Narayanpur Post Office and Gudagari Police Station in the Rajshahi district of Bangladesh - was left stranded in the no-man's-land in the Nandirchar sector near Mahendraganj in Meghalaya's South West Garo Hills district.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when Border Security Force (BSF) troopers directed Rajbanshi to return to Bangladesh, but the BGB personnel refused to accept him as a Bangladeshi citizen. The disagreement between the f...
