Mumbai, June 8 -- A 28-year-old man, allegedly jumped off the Atal Setu trans-harbour bridge in Mumbai in the early hours of Sunday, triggering a large-scale search operation by police and maritime agencies, officials said here today.

According to police, the incident occurred on Sunday at around 1:29 am, when the youth identified as Pratik Subhash Raskar, 28, a resident of Shirur Taluka, in Pune, jumped into the sea after parking his car on the bridge. Raskar, who was associated with stock market, had told his family he was going out for a meal.

The Ulwe police have registered a missing person case. Despite continuous search efforts by police, maritime security, and rescue teams, there is no trace of him so far, an official added.
