Jaunpur, April 22 -- A 45-year-old man was beaten to death late Tuesday night in a violent clash stemming from an old family dispute.

The incident took place in Babhnouti Tikri village under Baksha police station limits, officials said on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Ashok Mishra alias Pullur, had an ongoing land dispute with his uncle's family for several years.

According to police, tensions escalated when both sides came face-to-face as relatives had gathered in the village for an upcoming wedding.

Ashok, who ran an Ayurvedic medicine shop in Naiganj, had been living separately with his family due to the long-standing conflict.
