Thiruvananthapuram, July 18 -- Veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty won the Best Actor award for his acclaimed performance in Bhramayugam at the 72nd National Film Awards, marking his fourth National Award for Best Actor.

The awards were announced by Feature Film Jury Chairman Jayaraj. An 11-member jury selected the winners from nearly 400 films submitted in 34 Indian languages across various categories.

Mammootty shared the Best Actor award with Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan for his performance in Chandu Champion. Mammootty was honoured for his haunting portrayal of Kodumon Potti in director Rahul Sadasivan's Bhramayugam.
