Kolkata, July 18 -- Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressing fresh concern over the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, urged the Centre on Saturday to engage in dialogue and respect the democratic right to peaceful dissent.
In a post on social media, Banerjee said she was "deeply concerned" about Wangchuk's deteriorating health and criticised the Centre for allegedly ignoring his repeated appeals for talks.
"Deeply concerned about Sonam Wangchuk's health and well-being. He asked only for dialogue, yet his appeal has been met with silence for weeks. In a democracy, peaceful dissent deserves engagement, not silence," she wrote.
