Kolkata, April 8 -- Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday filed her nomination from the Bhabanipur assembly constituency and raised strong concerns over the deletion of voters' names from the electoral rolls, saying those declared ineligible after adjudication should still be allowed to vote.
Speaking to media outside the Survey Building after submitting her nomination papers, Banerjee said: "More than 27 lakh voters who have been struck off the rolls should not be denied their franchise."She said the Supreme Court has held that those under adjudication are considered genuine voters. "I don't understand what is the point in allowing their names back only after the elections. They cannot vote," she added.
