Kolkata, April 29 -- Breaking from her usual practice, Mamata Banerjee stepped out early on polling day, declaring that she would spend the entire day on the streets monitoring the election process-not as Chief Minister, but as the Trinamool Congress candidate from Bhabanipur.

Expressing strong displeasure over a late-night visit by central forces and a police observer to the residence of outgoing minister and party candidate Firhad Hakim, Banerjee questioned the role of the Election Commission, alleging intimidation.

"Bobby's wife was at home, and they were knocking on the door at midnight. Women were terrified," she said.

All eyes are on Bhabanipur in the second phase of polling, where Banerjee is locked in a high-profile contest again...
