Kolkata, March 7 -- In a rare instance, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and President Droupadi Murmu were engaged in a verbal spat on Saturday after Banerjee alleged that the President had become part of the BJP's political agenda and had been "trapped" by the ruling party at the Centre, following Murmu's remarks expressing disappointment that neither the chief minister nor any state minister had come to receive her during her visit to north Bengal.
