Siliguri, Sept. 8 -- Malda District Magistrate Rajanvir Singh Kapoor on Tuesday briefed West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari about the critical flood situation in Bhutni Diara, an island area in Manikchak block, during a virtual administrative meeting with all the districts of North Bengal.
The Chief Minister subsequently constituted a high-power team to continuously monitor the situation and instructed the administration to take all necessary measures to prevent further suffering of the flood-affected people.
Adhikari directed the district administration to continue rescue operations and give priority to shifting nearly 2.5 lakh marooned people to safer places.
