Darbhanga, Oct. 25 -- Makhana (fox nuts) is not only an integral part of Mithila's cultural heritage but also an important pillar of its economic prosperity.
While speaking at the National Makhana Festival organised by the National Research Centre for Makhana in Darbhanga on the occasion of Sharad Purnima and Kojagara, Darbhanga MP and BJP whip in the Lok Sabha Gopal Ji Thakur said makhana from Mithila had gained national and global recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Promoting makhana production, processing and marketing would create new employment opportunities and help curb migration of workers from the region, he said.
