Chennai, July 9 -- In a major decision aimed at safeguarding farmers' interests, the union Government has approved procurementof copra and totapuri mangoes from farmers in Tamil Nadu.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has accorded approval for the procurement, ensuring better price realization for producers and protecting them from distress sales caused by market fluctuations.
He has cleared procurement of 87,226 MT Copra and 96,879 MT Totapuri Mangoes for Tamil Nadu, a PIB release said.
