Patna, May 25 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary today termed the inclusion of Maithili language in the curriculum of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as a "historic and highly welcome" decision, saying it would strengthen the cultural identity of Mithila.

The Chief Minister said here that granting recognition to Maithili as a mother tongue subject from Class 1 to the secondary level in CBSE schools was a matter of pride for the linguistic heritage and cultural legacy of the Mithila region.
