Chennai, Aug. 8 -- Reiterating Tamil Nadu's steadfast opposition to the Delimitation of Lok Sabha seats, a meeting of MPs from the state chaired by Chief Ministrer Joseph Vijay demanded the union Government to maintain status quo and freeze the proposed move for another 25 years, while deciding to adopt a resolution on this in the ongoing budget session of the State Assembly.

A resolution was passed unanimously at the meeting attended by MPs belonging to the allies of the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of Vijay even as the opposition DMK and AIADMK boycotted it, exposing the entrenched political divide in the Dravidian heartland.

It also raises question over the DMK's ambivalence and apparent backtracking on this issue.
