Mumbai, May 22 -- Ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, parleys between the ruling Mahayuti alliance partners have come close to a consensus on the seat sharing formula.
All three alliance partners-the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP - Ajit Pawar faction)-will contest the polls together.
According to sources, under the preliminary agreement, the BJP will contest the highest number of seats with 12 candidates, followed by the Shiv Sena with 3 seats, and the NCP with 2 seats. Senior leaders of the alliance have reportedly reached a consensus on this primary arrangement.
