Mumbai, Aug. 20 -- The Maharashtra government will translate the complete literary works of social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule into seven languages as part of the celebrations marking his bicentenary birth anniversary, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar announced on Thursday.
The works will be translated into Hindi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Sanskrit, Telugu, Bengali and Gor Banjara through the respective Sahitya Akademis functioning under the Cultural Affairs Departments in different states.
Shelar made the announcement while inaugurating a one-day translation workshop organised at the P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Prabhadevi to promote literary exchange between Marathi and other Indian languages.
