Mumbai, Oct. 6 -- The Maharashtra Waqf Tribunal declined to immediately stop construction and renovation work at Mumbai's historic Khilafat House. After hearing arguments, it adjourned the case to October 9 and said the government should be added as a party so its position can be heard.
Social activist Shahid Mansoori, the petitioner, argued that the plot is Waqf property and that construction cannot proceed without permission from Waqf authorities. His lawyer presented a list that included the plot and sought an immediate stay.
