Mumbai, Oct. 8 -- The Maharashtra government has decided to accord a state funeral to veteran actor Nana Patekar in recognition of his significant contribution to Marathi theatre and Marathi and Hindi cinema, Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar announced on Thursday.

Shelar said the decision was taken by the government led by state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, considering Patekar's long-standing contribution to the field of acting and his work across theatre and films.
