Chandigarh, April 26 -- The political situation in Punjab has intensified following the defection of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa claiming that a "Maharashtra-like" political realignment is imminent in Punjab.
Bajwa claimed on Sunday that approximately 65 to 66 AAP MLAs are preparing to jump ship. He controversially referred to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as the "Eknath Shinde of Punjab," suggesting that the Chief Minister himself would be the first passenger to join the exodus from the ruling AAP in the state.
