Mumbai, April 7 -- The Maharashtra government has initiated a high-level probe into the financial dealings of self-styled godman Ashok Kharat, directing that his assets be investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The move comes amid growing allegations of irregularities, raising concerns about the sources of his wealth and possible financial misconduct.
According to government sources, the decision to involve the ED was taken after preliminary findings indicated potential violations that may fall under central financial investigation agencies' jurisdiction.
