Mumbai, Feb. 25 -- The Maharashtra government has indicated stricter action against orchestra bars following complaints of alleged illegal activities under the guise of entertainment.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken serious note of the issue and said the law could be amended if required. Administrative scrutiny of bar establishments in Mumbai and other cities is expected to intensify.

The issue was raised in the Assembly through a starred question by Shiv Sena MLA Manoj Jamsutkar. He alleged that several orchestra bars were not adhering to prescribed rules. Other members also expressed concern over reported irregularities.
