Mumbai, Sept. 3 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Maharashtra, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has introduced a year-round, permanent enforcement framework to regulate food safety during festivals, yatras and religious seasons across the state.
The new order, titled "Festival Enforcement Calendar", will replace the existing practice of issuing separate enforcement directives for individual festivals, FDA officials said in a press note.
Under the framework, festival-related enforcement has been categorised into three tiers.
Level-1, involving comprehensive and mandatory four-phase enforcement across the state, will cover Ganeshotsav, Navratri, Diwali, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Christmas and New Year's Eve.
