Mumbai, July 15 -- A major fire broke out in the auditorium of International Dalmia School in the Srushti area of Mira Road in Thane district on Wednesday morning, causing extensive damage to the sixth-floor facility and educational equipment, officials said.
The blaze, which erupted near the ISKCON Temple, sent thick black smoke billowing across the locality, triggering panic among nearby residents.
Chief Fire Officer Prakash Borade said eight fire engines, four water tankers and 43 firefighters were deployed to the spot. The firefighting operation continued for nearly 90 minutes before the flames were brought under control.
