Bhandara, June 8 -- : Two youths drowned while five others managed to swim ashore after a private boat capsized in the Wainganga River in the Karchkheda area of Maharashtra's Bhandara district, officials said on Monday.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Sunday evening around 6:30 pm when seven youths had gone to bathe on an island located in the middle of the river using a private boat.

While returning after bathing, the boat reportedly lost balance midstream and overturned, throwing all seven occupants into the water.

The deceased were identified as Pawan Murli Chaube (34) and Krishna Jagannath Bokde (26), who drowned in deep waters.
