Kolhapur, June 4 -- The regional committee appointed by the Maharashtra government has recommended the withdrawal of 733 cases out of 961 total cases registered against protestors involved in the Maratha reservation agitations.

These includes 40 cases in Kolhapur district.

During the Marathahalli reservation agitation, police had registered cases against total 961 protesters, seven of these are still under investigation and charge sheets have been filed in court against the accused in 857 cases.

The regional committee has recommended the withdrawal of 733 cases out of 961.

The Home Department immediately sought information on the cases from all the Superintendents of Police offices and Police Commissionerates in the state on Monday.
