Mumbai, June 25 -- The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly witnessed a heated debate on Thursday as Congress Legislative Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar cornered the state government over alleged irregularities in a rental agreement for a library operated by the Tribal Development Department in Amravati.

Raising the issue during the session, Wadettiwar questioned the rationale behind paying an exorbitant monthly rent of Rs 8 lakh for the facility. He demanded that the government provide transparency on the criteria used to finalise the rent, the identity of the official whose credentials were used to process the application, and the ownership of the building in question.
