Mumbai , June 21 -- Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma joined Indian Coast Guard officers in a yoga session at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai, on Sunday to mark International Day of Yoga.
The event was held in collaboration with the Coast Guard, which enters its Golden Jubilee year in 2027.
As chancellor of 29 state universities with 3 million students, Varma urged institutions to scale up yoga programmes and "produce the finest yoga tutors and trainers for the entire world".
He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 2014 UN appeal to declare June 21 the International Day of Yoga, noting the UN resolution later got record support from member states.
