Mumbai, Oct. 8 -- The Maharashtra government will establish integrated student hostels to provide accommodation and quality facilities to students from all communities under one roof, with the aim of breaking caste barriers and promoting social harmony, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Thursday.
Chairing a meeting at Mantralaya, the state secretariat, on providing land for hostels under the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, Bawankule directed district collectors to identify suitable government land and submit proposals to the government by October 13.
The proposed hostels will have a capacity of 1,000 students at the divisional level and 500 students at the district level.
