Mumbai, Aug. 8 -- Cracking down on alleged financial irregularities at one of the state's most revered shrines, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a comprehensive, high-level probe into the donation collections of Mumbai's iconic Shree Siddhivinayak Temple.
The government directive follows explosive corruption allegations raised by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who claimed that a staggering Rs 18 crore is being siphoned off annually from the temple's donation boxes.
State authorities have been directed to scrutinize the shrine's detailed donation and hundi collection records spanning the last five years (2023-2026) to uncover anomalies and unexpected fluctuations.
