Mumbai, April 12 -- Placing the safety of school students at the forefront, the Maharashtra government has initiated steps to introduce a stringent and comprehensive regulatory framework governing school buses and transport systems.
As per a draft notification issued by the Home Department, the state has proposed implementation of the "Maharashtra Motor Vehicles (Regulation of School Buses) (First Amendment) Rules, 2026", with a strong emphasis on safety, transparency and accountability.
