Mumbai, July 3 -- In a move to curb the growing consumption of energy drinks among school children, the Maharashtra government today announced a decision to prohibit the sale of 'Sting' energy drink within a 500-metre radius of schools across the state.
The decision follows a heated debate in the State Legislative Assembly during the ongoing monsoon session, where concerns were raised regarding the health impact of such beverages on students.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Minister Narhari Zirwal informed the House that the government is taking a serious view of the matter.
