Mumbai, July 27 -- Maharashtra Cyber Police on Monday issued an advisory cautioning parents and guardians about a growing online scams targeting children through fake offers of "free gems", in-game currency and gaming rewards on popular gaming platforms.

According to the advisory, cyber fraudsters contact minors through in-game chats and social media, luring them with promises of free gaming currency, exclusive skins and other premium rewards. The children are then directed to fraudulent websites or phishing links designed to resemble official gaming portals, where their login credentials and passwords are stolen.
