Mumbai, Sept. 1 -- In a decisive push toward public safety, administrative health, and regional development, the Maharashtra cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has rolled out a comprehensive multi-sectoral strategy, setting a strict 2029 deadline to completely purge the state of narcotics.
To tackle the rising drug menace, the cabinet has greenlit a holistic "Whole of Government Approach" under the Nashamukt Bharat Abhiyan. This policy shifts the burden away from a purely law-enforcement-led crackdown, weaving coordinated preventive, punitive, and public awareness frameworks across all administrative machinery to choke supply chains and curb youth consumption.
