Pune, Aug. 13 -- The Maharashtra government has announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening farmers' land rights, reducing disputes during land acquisition, and enhancing transparency and efficiency in the property registration system, State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said.
Under a special initiative, the government plans to update land records in the names of approximately 2.31 lakh farmers who are in actual possession and cultivation of land but are not recorded as owners in the 7/12 extract or property card.
The Land Records Commission will conduct a review meeting, after which a standardised software system and operating procedure will be developed within three months to implement the process.
