Mumbai, July 18 -- A 23-year-old youth from Taloja in Navi Mumbai has allegedly been trafficked to neighbouring Myanmar after being lured with the promise of a high-paying overseas job and is now being held captive by an international cyber-fraud syndicate, his family claimed today.
The victim, identified as Sahil, has been stranded in Myanmar for over a month. In a video message released recently, he appealed to the Government of India, the Maharashtra government and law enforcement agencies to rescue him.
According to his father, Sahil was approached by unknown persons who offered him a lucrative IT job abroad. He was first taken to Bangkok and was subsequently allegedly sold to a group operating in Myanmar.
