Kolhapur, July 24 -- The Water Resources Department of Maharashtra has given an administrative approval for expenditure of Rs 24.5 crore for the survey, investigation, conceptualization, budget and preparation of a project report to divert available water from Krishna river into Nira river to be used in drought affected areas of the Kolhapur and Sangli districts.
A press release issued here today said that although the verdict of Krishna Basin Water Dispute Arbitration-2 has been announced, it has not been notified yet. Therefore, at present, legal and administrative proceedings are underway as per Arbitration-1.
