Mumbai, May 6 -- Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena's former Kankavli mayor and Sena district chief, Sandesh Parkar, today confirmed that he will join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena shortly.
Kankali, which is located in the coastal Konkan region, has always been a stronghold of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena.
However, for some time now, several Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena leaders from the Konkan region have been joining Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena. Sandesh Parkar is not just a mayor but is also known to have huge popularity in Kankavli and surrounding areas of the Konkan region. His departure is expected to pose a major challenge to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, according to party sources.
