Nagpur, Aug. 31 -- : Two youths drowned while attempting to save their friend from the swollen Bembla River in Maharashtra's Buldhana district, police said on Monday.
According to officials, the incident occurred on Sunday evening near Nimbhora Khurd village in Jalgaon Jamod tehsil when three friends visited the river.
One of them, Sangharsh Arun Gavai, slipped into the water and began drowning.
In an attempt to rescue him, the other two youths, Dheeraj Vijay Gawai and Avinash Rajesh Sawale, jumped into the river.
Although Sangharsh was rescued safely, the two rescuers were swept away by the strong current and went missing.
Following the incident, local residents, police personnel and rescue teams launched a search operation.
