Nashik, Sept. 19 -- Two 17-year-old boys drowned while immersing a Ganpati idol on fifth day of immersion in Mosam river at Nampur in Baglan taluka of the district, leaving the villagers and residents from surrounding areas in mourning.
The deceased have been identified as Atharva Deepak Pagar, a resident of Uttaraane, and Prasad Dadabhau Wagh, a resident of Nampur.
According to information available, a group of Class XII students from a private coaching class in Nampur had gone to a check dam on the Mosam river for Ganpati immersion on Saturday afternoon. While Atharva and Prasad entered the water, they reportedly began drowning. People present at the spot attempted to rescue them, but the depth of the water made the rescue difficult.
