Chandrapur , Aug. 1 -- : A 75-year-old herdsman was killed in a tiger attack in the Sawali forest area of Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, triggering panic among villagers and renewed concerns over the rising incidents of human-wildlife conflict in the region, police said.
The deceased, identified as Hiraman Markandi Sakhare, had taken his cattle for grazing in compartment number 1501 of the Samda forest under the Sawali forest range on Saturday afternoon when a tiger attacked him.
His body was found with severe injuries.
Forest department officials rushed to the spot, conducted a panchnama and sent the body for post-mortem.
