Gadchiroli, Aug. 1 -- : Three of four minor boys who had gone to bathe in the Sati river at Khedegaon village in Kurkheda tehsil of Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district drowned on Saturday afternoon, while the fourth survived, police said.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 12:30 pm when four children entered the river to take a bath and were swept into deep water.

Three of them drowned, while the fourth managed to escape and informed nearby villagers.

The victims had reportedly entered the swollen river for a bath when they were swept away by the strong current.

Local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue effort, while police officials were alerted.
