Mumbai, May 2 -- Travelling to hometowns during the summer vacation has become more expensive after private bus operators sharply increased ticket prices following the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation's (MSRTC) seasonal fare hike.

Private travel companies have reportedly raised fares to nearly one-and-a-half times the ST ticket rates, putting an additional burden on passengers.

At present, routes towards Western Maharashtra and Vidarbha are witnessing the highest demand for private buses. Every year, families begin planning summer vacations and hometown visits as early as March.
