Nagpur, April 3 -- A 42-year-old jawan of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) was allegedly murdered by his daughter's boyfriend along with his associates in Nagpur, with police arresting five individuals in connection with the case, officials said today.
The victim, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Pankaj Thakur, was attacked in the Matoshree Nagar area falling under MIDC police limits.
His brother-in-law, Arpit (30), sustained serious injuries while trying to intervene.
Police said the prime accused, Akash Haridas Mandal (23), had been in a relationship with Thakur's 16-year-old daughter for nearly two years, which the victim strongly opposed.
He had reportedly warned Mandal multiple times to keep away from the minor.
